Behind the lens….
I was born in Oldham England, and came to Canada with my parents as a young boy. I call the small West-Central Alberta town of Sundre home, where my wife and I have raised two daughters.
For Years I have been mesmerized by the beauty and wonder of nature. Starting at a young age, hiking and backpacking in the Canadian Rockies became a huge part of my life. This activity helped to cement relationships with family and friends and forced me to not only appreciate the epic nature of the earths amazing landscape, but also the personality of the One who designed it. This feeling of awe, reverence and appreciation can not and should not be hidden. For this reason, I enjoy sharing the message that creation whispers to us, and one way of doing that is by using a camera. Whether a sunset or sunrise, a wide vista or an intimate detail, a mountain, a lake, a waterfall, a desert or even a classic rural scene, I hope you find as much enjoyment and meaning in nature as I have. Many have commented on how my style, which I feel is a unique blend of composition, subject matter and processing makes them feel like they are really part of the scene they are enjoying, evoking emotion and memories.
In recent years, I have stepped out of my comfort zone and have honed my skills in people photography. I feel my history with landscape photography has benefited me in this journey. Light, composition, camera technique and post processing, important aspects in landscape photography are put to good use when photographing people.
